| Ross Hansen's works examine
the human trophy-taking impulse. Today we are
more likely to shoot wildlife with a camera than
a gun, but the desire to take, mount and display
natural trophies remains the same. The impulse
is clear, the motivation less so. Such artefacts
are conceivably the result of a natural curiosity,
simple celebrations of the diversity, beauty and
peculiarity of the natural world. Equally they
can be seen as arising from a vestigial hunter-gatherer´s
desire to control and contain nature. .
