| Patrick's paintings are derived
from film imagery - large scenes of interiors
are painted in one colour. The rooms are empty
and the light sources are exaggerated, almost
to the point of domination.
These paintings encourage the viewer to piece
the forms and shapes together and construct the
scene for themselves. The initial impact of the
paintings is colour and light, but subtleties
develop as the viewer's eyes adjust. As if going
into a darkened room, the information appears
to unravel over time as the image slowly infuses
into the viewer's comprehension.
Fleur Patrick completed her MA in painting at
the Royal College of Art last summer.
She was a finalist in the Lexmark European Art
Prize in September 2003.
