| Benet Spencer is a graduate
of the Royal Academy schools, he has exhibited
widely in London and prominant exhibitions have
included a collaboration with notable Royal Academicians
for AT Kearney's Londinium to London 1999 and
was awarded the Unipart Reflections of Technology
prize in 1995. He is a lecturer in art at John
Moores University in Liverpool and lives in London.
Spencer's slick portrayals of airports, landing
strips and planes refelect his continuing interest
in responding to everyday subjects. These seemingly
banal subjects are transformed into majestic and
epic scenes through Spencer's lovingly rendered
paintwork. That the most severe urban space can
still rovide such an aesthetic expereince is the
key to these paintings, a kind of sublime neon
landsacpe, entirely synthetic yet undeniably beautiful.
