| Stephen Taylor
studied painting at Leeds University, after which
he studied perception and technique in John Constable
as a post-graduate at Essex University. Resident
Artist at Felsted School in Essex for two years,
he has taught part time at a number of colleges
in the U.K. including The Inchbald School of Design
and the Open College of the Arts. He has paintings
in private collections worldwide.
Since the mid 1990's he has concentrated exclusively
on modern landscape, combining sophisticated traditional
oil techniques with modern digital image analysis
to produce paintings which are vividly real and
yet at the same time unmistakably works of selection
and of art. Larger pieces involve integrating
many different photographic and painted studies
and can take up to three years to complete. The
images combine immediate impact of place with
a revelation of worlds within a world.
